1. What is ReceiveMessage?
--------------------------
It is a very simple debugging tool for those case when real-time
performance of an application can not wait for a debugger. It will
receive and display messages sent to it from a function defined in
debugmessage.h or something similar.

It allows you to get status from a program without affecting its
performance.

2. Who should use it?
---------------------
Developers of time sensitive Windows 32 programs

3. License
----------
GPL License as described in LICENSE

4. Guarantees
-------------
None. You have the source code, if it breaks you get to keep all the
pieces. If you use this software incorrectly it may cause problems. It
works for me, I can't guarantee anything for you.

8. Dependencies
---------------
The project was built using Borland C++ Builder 5.0

9. Compiling
------------
Load the project and compile.

10. Installing
--------------
A self-extracting installer is provided. Just double-click on it.

11. Usage
---------
Include debugmessage.h into the file that need to generate the debug
message and add the function call "returnval=DebugMsg( id, debugtext );" where
ever you need to display a debug message. It is critical that the
ReceiveMessage application be active whenever you run the debug version
of the application you are testing. The [id] must be the same as the
"Message Number to Listen to" field in ReceiveMessage. The [debugtext]
is the message that should be displayed by ReceiveMessage. It is important
to "Start" the ReceiveMessage program before executing the debugged
application. The string has a limit of 255 characters and should be zero
terminated.

12. Concepts
------------
The ReceiveMessage program listens for Windows messages of WM_USER + id.
[id] is the first parameter of the DebugMsg function and the value of the
"Message Number to Listen to" field in ReceiveMessage. It assumes that
the LWORD parameter of the message is a global atom containing a string
that should be displayed. ReceiveMessage will deallocate the atom. The
DWORD field of the message is ignored.
